Kim and Sarah Visit

This weekend we had our friends, Kim and Sarah, visit us on the tail end of their road trip. They flew from Massachusetts, where they live, to Vegas and then worked their way east to us and flew from Albuquerque back home early this morning. We were so happy they were able to make us part of their trip and really enjoyed having them stay for a few nights.

The first night Kim and Sarah were here Matt made us a delicious three-course meal with beer pairings for each course. We went from a cheese appetizer, to grilled steak and potatoes and finished up with a dessert platter of yumminess. Matt always has fun playing around with beer pairings and the rest of us were happy to be his guinea pigs on the different flavor combos.

Raspberry bars, chocolate cake, keylime cheesecake and hazelnut cake... deeeeelicious!

The next day we relaxed for the most part and then got to take advantage of the "Give Parents a Break" night that Ethan's daycare offers, which meant we got to out on a double date, yay! :) The program is really cool because it's only $15 for 4 hours and since it's at Ethan's daycare he's already comfortable with the location and people, which makes it much easier on everyone involved (no baby trauma, no mama stress). :)

Then Saturday morning Matt, Kim and Sarah all went hiking at Tent Rocks National Monument while Ethan and I held down the fort at home. Matt and I had hiked Tent Rocks years ago when Matt was stationed in Albuquerque, so we kind of knew it wasn't really a toddler-friendly event. I made Matt take the camera, though, so I got to live vicariously through their pictures. :)

After their hike, Matt took Kim and Sarah to see the CV-22 and then we all went out for dinner. All-in-all it was really a great visit and we were sad to see them leave early this morning.
